As the year rolls out, there are many activities you have outlined to accomplish. It is also likely; you have a few unchecked boxes on your list from the previous year. This should not make you fret, look for solutions elsewhere or what is worst; throw in the towel. Instead, return to God in prayer, re-visit your drawing board and trust in the promise of God. He will surely bring you to a PERFECT end.
Our first message in the year 2019 was titled ‘God, lead me’. Throughout the year so many things happened but God was with us all the way to the end. In fact, God led us through 2019. When we had nowhere to turn to, He held our hands and walked us through the path of righteousness and filled our hearts with joy and peace. This God is too good. He is mighty to save, He is Jehovah, (the I AM THAT I AM). We thank God for His leading, counsel, protection and victory in 2019.
We are privileged to share with you our first message in 2020 titled, ‘Be still’. We are confident in God that this word will encourage you and launch you into a deeper relationship with God as the year unfolds.
Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:13-14.
Tensions have heightened and the whole Israel nation feared for their lives. Naturally, you were likely to be worried or afraid if an army was behind you and your chances of survival were between zero to nothing. But thanks be to God that you and I have a deliverer. One who can part the Red Sea to deliver you from your enemies if need be.
By saying ‘be still’, God is telling you to keep calm and wait on Him. Do not be in a hurry to approach spiritual battles with your mind and wits. The story in the previous verses of our main text reveals that the battle has been between God and the Egyptians from day one. All Israel needed to do was to call on God. Similarly, all you need to do in 2020 is to call on God. Lift up a prayer to God and He will deliver you.
When tough moments present themselves, it is how and who we present ourselves to that determines the outcome. Who we present ourselves to; should be God Almighty. He knows the end of every situation. With just a snap of His finger or even a blink, He can make the situation go away. Yet, He looks at how you present yourself. When you are afraid, He tells you, “for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). When you are anxious He tells you, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6-7). So, be at ease and see the deliverance God will wreak for you.
In this new year, continue to abide in God. Remember, God’s promise to you that He will fight for you; you need only to be still.
Enjoy a favoured 2020!
