Our victory is from God

I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 121:1-2

In whichever form it comes, victory is a sweet experience.  For instance, when you score an A in an examination or win a keenly contested competition, your joy is certainly without measure.  Often such victories spur you on to attain greater exploits. As believers, we do record victories in our daily Christian life. Some of these victories leave us with tears of joy whilst others keep us in awe at the wonder of God.  This is because sometimes, we might have tried everything and run out of options then suddenly, things begin to change in our favour and an unexpected victory finally sweeps in. Be that as it may, things don’t just happen and that victory was not automated. This is because it takes an action to produce a result. Whether great or small, I believe every victory has an origin. The Bible says “for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure-Phillipians 2:13. In our key text, the Psalmist asks “where does my help come from? Then he responds, saying “My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

God’s interventions that bring victory in our daily encounters are never late. For Esther and the Jews in all 127 provinces, their death sentence was signed and sealed yet God saved them. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego had to go into a fiery furnace yet God brought them out unburnt. Daniel spent the night in a den filled with hungry lions and came out unscratched. Joseph begun as a boy left to die in a pit and finally became the Prime Minister in Egypt. These stories have God’s handwriting all over them and none would have been a sweet victory without God. So shall your story be if you do what the Lord desires of you in difficult times. There is no pain you are going through that God cannot see. He sees all your troubles and He says:

Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken

Psalm 55:22

To cast your burden upon the Lord means to commit your situation to God and trust Him to bring you the victory you desire. One sure way to do this is to pray. Worrying cannot cast your burden, talking cannot cast your burdens but praying brings your burdens before God and He takes it from there. Few weeks into 2020, an unfortunate viral outbreak (2019-nCoV) has claimed the lives of many human beings and sickened many all over the world. Our victory over this outbreak will come from God. Therefore, I call on believers all over the world to lift up prayers so that God will bring us victory over this outbreak. Be assured that:

He (God) will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm—  he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Psalm 121:3-8

Truly, victory comes from God and he can grant it to us in every situation. Yet, He orchestrates the process that leads to victory such that in the end we experience His glory and remain faithful. If you and I will be patient, obedient, and listen to God we will be victorious and maintain our victory in everything we do.

Stay blessed
