The difference is the Holy Spirit
Again Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so also I am sending you.” When He had said this, He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit”
The personality of the Holy Spirit is emphatic in the scriptures. However, the relevance of the Holy Spirit seems abstract in the lives of many believers today. It is amazing to notice how little people know about the Holy Spirit and sad to see how the Holy Spirit is relegated to the background among many Christians. I think many Christians are looking for God in the wrong places and have become Idol worshippers in the process (like the woman at the well). This is because God isn’t at those places, rather He lives in them (John 4:24). The Holy Spirit, in you, makes you different. Without Him, you are an ordinary man.
You can have knowledge about the nature and works of the Holy Spirit but to be a believer with a difference, you’ve got to experience the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not a force and His experiences are not limited to but manifested through fire, water, mighty rushing wind, gentle breeze, etc. Without a doubt, I believe that the Holy Spirit is the divine presence of God who lives within you to convict, correct, teach and train you to become holy and blameless before God. The Holy Spirit is the difference-maker on several counts. let’s look at a few:
The Holy Spirit is a prayer partner: When you allow the Holy Spirit to have His way in your life your prayer changes. He gives you both confidence and conviction such that you are able to make prayers that align with God’s will. More than that, He also helps you to pray (Romans 8:26). You no longer pray in fear but with boldness and great faith in God.
The Holy Spirit gives life and peace: Our life is an outward expression of the Spirit’s work in us. Actually, we live from spirit to flesh. A reverse is dangerous and many have ignorantly chosen to live that way probably because it’s easy or meets their selfish desires. Your Spirit is housed in your body. The true you is your spirit, not the flesh. The Bible says,
You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness.
The Holy Spirit gives power over the flesh: In order to deal with the weakness and compromises of your flesh, the Holy Spirit is your ever-present guide and counselor to navigate you through this dark world. You definitely need the Holy Spirit if you’re going to survive daily on this Earth. So, in our main text, Jesus finally breathed upon them saying “receive the Holy Spirit”. It is going to be tough at times but Jesus is saying “Receive the Holy Spirit” for He is a comforter who also empowers and He will help you overcome every storm.
You have been saved, sanctified and justified but if you live according to the flesh (without the Holy Spirit) and engage in worldly pleasures you will die (Romans 8:13). Today, I present to you the difference-maker, a friend who is always closer. I know you want to do things differently. Do it with the Holy Spirit.
Stay blessed.

THE DIFFERENCE – MAKER IS SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD, THE ‘HOLY SPIRIT’, IN WHOM I FIND COMFORT.
God bless you.
Amen Sir Mintah. I’m so proud of you and honored to know you. Let’s enjoy the Holy Spirit together
Indeed the Holy Spirit makes the difference. So how do I receive him and what assurance do I have to know He is in me?
When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in you. The Bible reveals that the baptism of the Holy Spirit can be received in several ways: through prayer (Acts 2:1-4), laying on of hands (Acts 19:6), listening to God’s word like Cornelius in Acts 10. These are ways known and recorded in scripture but one can even be baptised with the Holy Spirit whiles in bed.
You will know you have the Holy Spirit in you by the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) that becomes evident in your life. An initial manifestation of spiritual gifts such as tongues-speaking, prophecying, discernment of spirit may play out but a sure way to know you have the Spirit of God in you is the fruit you bear. You can read Charisma vs Characterto know more about the relevance of fruit and gifts of the Spirit.
