The venue to preach is everywhere

by wordimpart

For the past two weeks in March, we have been looking at the main topic, ‘Preaching the word of God’. Overall, we came to two major conclusions about the preaching of God’s word. First, the message of the Gospel is about Jesus. Second, the way to spread the Gospel is to preach it and live it. These have been captured in details in our previous posts titled ‘The message is Jesus and The messenger is you. Click to read these posts and share to bless someone else.

In line with this Month’s theme, this week’s post is titled ‘The venue to preach is everywhere’. A question that comes to mind after who and what to preach is, where should preaching be done? Let’s have a quick read of our main text and get into God’s word.

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound[a] teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. 5 As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil your ministry.

2 Timothy 4:1-5

The third verse of this text, reveals that people will continue to spread God’s word. The word ‘people’ used in the text connotes humans of every nation. Glory to God! Its been over 2000 years and this gospel is still been preached and so shall it be until the end of time.  The Bible says:

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Matthew 24:14

All nations must hear the gospel and know who Jesus is. Truly, this calls on all believers including you and I to send the message into nations that have not heard about the gospel. In the days of the NT, the Apostles travelled across their world to preach the Gospel. In particular, Apostle Paul travelled to many gentile nations and cities where he preached and planted Churches. That was how they carried out the great commission as commanded by Jesus.

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Matthew 28:18-20

Today, there are many parts of the world where the gospel is yet to penetrate. Dating back to the late 18th and early 19th centuries, missionaries travelled to distant countries and islands to share God’s word. The practice has proven helpful and continues to be as we see a wave of believers all over Africa today.  As part of efforts to touch the lives of many people in this generation with the gospel, let’s consider the following points that can be helpful.

Share the gospel on social media

The internet has become the fastest way to connect with the world outside one’s immediate environment. It has also become the best, if not the only way to connect with people all over the world via various social media platforms. In effect, the web is where to meet everybody in the world by a click of a button. This offers a great advantage because the gospel of Jesus can be shared on these platforms as articles, audios, videos, posters etc. Many youths are often glued to their social media platforms so reaching them with the gospel on social media is a good way of fulfilling the great commission.

Inviting work colleagues to Church

Also, inviting work colleagues to the Church is a great way of sharing the gospel everywhere. Today, it is convenient to live stream or broadcast many Church services on the web. One can invite friends from other nations to join the service. This way people who are in other countries can access the word of God and be transformed. Also, people who travel to work or study abroad must continue in their faith. Not hiding the truth about the gospel but inviting friends from their workplace to  Church and to hear about Jesus.

Give Christian articles as gifts to your friends

This point is a rare area in our days. We celebrate friends and loved ones on numerous occasions. On such occasions, we present gifts to them and wish them well. This is an area we can capitalize by giving them gift items that send the message of the gospel to them. For example, the Bible, Christian literature, recorded sermons and DVDs about the gospel of Jesus can be well packaged as gift items. This gospel must reach the hearing of everyone so that they can come to true repentance and believe and accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour and soon coming King.

Conclusion

In a twinkle of an eye, we shall be seeing our Lord Jesus Christ appear in glory. You and I ought to preach the gospel in all nations so that others can be saved. Our advantage in this generation is the web. Let’s share the message on all social media platforms available to us. Also, let’s go all out to support the work of missions and missionaries across the world.

God bless you
