Home Testimonies THE VISA

THE VISA

by Clement Lartey

Many of us have heard or seen the manifestations of God’s Power. In the same way, we might have experienced His faithfulness and can agree with the scripture which says “God is not a man that he should lie; neither the son of man, which he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Numbers 23:19

In September 2016, I received a prophecy from a man of God, Apostle Jude from Ghana. You may be wondering if prophecies are only received by men of God. The answer is ‘No’. Prior to my meeting with Apostle Jude, in a dream, I had seen myself in an Asian country. As I woke up, I was struck with astonishment. The Apostle shared a similar message with me and I believe the prophetic message that came was a confirmation of what God said and showed to me in my dream. As a matter of fact, I was done with about 70% of my documentation. After submitting the required documents at the embassy and waiting to be issued a Visa (i.e. in a weeks’ time), I began testifying to many because I was fully convinced that I will be travelling soon.

I attended an evening service at my church On Tuesday and during service, we were given the opportunity to share our testimonies. As I sat there, a scripture kept on bubbling in my spirit. “Whosoever, therefore, shall confess me before men, he will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven”. Matthew 10: 32. This constantly hit me, so I boldly stood. You can imagine the applause I received as I told them how the idea came and every other process I went through.  What amazed them, was when I told them it was the last time I will be worshipping with them because I would be leaving the country before the weekend.  By then I had not be given my Visa yet I believed. Everyone stood and applauded with shouts for the faith I exhibited.  I had already bought my ticket as well. Little did I know that I was only putting myself in a precarious situation.

The following day, I prepared and went with a friend to the embassy. In fact, I was filled with Joy. We arrived an hour earlier and joined the queue as did all others who were there for a visa. Names were mentioned, I could hear the officers say refused to some applicants. I wasn’t shaken since I knew God was with me. It was now time for me to receive my passport. The female officer in charge said; ‘Refused’. I quickly asked her to repeat what she said, maybe she was mistaken but I was surprised when she repeated the same word. I collected all documents in shock.  I thank God for giving me a comforter (Otis) that faithful day else I could have been knocked down by a car. I didn’t know what to believe anymore, I lost my trust in God.

After some few days of dismay, God gave me a scripture again. “By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son”. Hebrews 11:17 NIV. After a long meditation, I gathered the strength and I began to declare a change. I felt reluctant to go for service since I had already said goodbye to everyone. Then the Holy Spirit spoke to me saying; ‘You do not go into my presence for the people but you go into my presence for my sake’. After hearing this, I made effort to attend the service. Everyone stirred at me as I entered. It was an awkward situation for me yet I paid no attention to them.

In a nutshell, just after a month, God gave me a testimony. According to the laws of the embassy, one cannot apply twice in a year for a Visa. Once you are denied a visa you would have to apply again in the preceding year. A lady at the embassy told me it wasn’t possible for me to be given a Visa that year yet I persisted in prayer and never stopped trusting God.

On a Monday morning, I had a dream. In the dream, I saw them opening my documents and rechecking if there were any mistakes. Immediately when I woke up, I told my sister and dad about my dream and I said; I am very sure they will call me back’. After hearing these words, my dad said; ‘God’s word is not man’s word. He’s in charge of the matter’. At exactly 3:00 pm that same day, I got a call from the embassy. Though they did not have my documents, they still managed to find my contact in order to reach me. The lady then said to me; ‘Hello Melvin, we really apologize for all that we’ve put you through. We would like you to resubmit your documents on Wednesday’. This was another surprise. How POWERFUL is the God that I serve? I asked myself.

After resubmission, I waited again for a week. The time had now come for me to collect my passport. I went again with my friend (Otis). Ooh, how I miss this day of being treated like a king. While in the queue the lady (officer) noticed me and called me immediately. I thought that was the best treatment I got at the embassy since it got the attention of the others who thought I had a protocol. She now took me to the consular where I was introduced properly. I felt like a king!

This was the day of fulfilment of the prophecy. I couldn’t hold back the laughter after seeing the Visa on my passport. To the Glory of God, I’ve been in China for about a year and God’s word is still keeping me.

I believe my testimony gave me the access to doors that were locked. There’s great Power in Testimony. I encourage you to always speak of the goodness of God. He will surely prove Himself.
